There are six schools centered in each one of the small communities that make up the district of Nosara: Serapio Lopez (Nosara), Delicias, Garza, Santa Marta, Santa Teresita, and Esperanza. These schools serve 700 students and have many commonalities such as lack of teaching materials, faulty infrastructure, and very poor students without sponsorship. These are only some of the reasons it is a struggle for the teachers to impart proper education. These schools also have annual expenses that consistently exceed their income from the government. The children’s families supplement the schools as they can, but family members typically earn only a small salary as construction workers, fisherman, gardeners, security guards and other seasonal jobs that revolve around the tourist industry. Please take a more detailed look and visit each one of the schools on our website.
