Because of our rural setting, a number of teachers commute some distances to the schools. The trip to Nosara really starts on a dirt road about an hour’s drive outside town. At times, because of heavy rains, rising rivers, disrupted bus services, or other unforeseen events, the teachers are unable to attend class. We envision the construction of small houses on the school grounds that would allow some of the teachers to stay at the school during the workweek. In addition, some of these homes could be used to house our visiting student teachers.
