When our program first began, we had the local teachers complete surveys outlining their needs. Sadly, the most frequent request was to help the less fortunate students with basic necessities. The Costa Rican government has a wonderful program that provides school meals for all students, but it is not enough. Unfortunately, several students cannot afford to purchase school uniforms, shoes, notebooks, writing implements or other meager supplies. The average annul costs of these supplies is less than $50 per year. Our Student Sponsors receive a personal information packet/photo about the student they’re supporting.
