The school was built in 1953 and at the time only had three buildings. It’s a priority attention school (the only one in the area) and is one of the five biggest schools in the Nicoya area with an enrollment of 325 students. The school is decently staffed and includes a teacher for children with learning disabilities and a psychologist.  Today the school is in great need of structural improvements and teaching materials. For example, all the buildings of the institution are in dire need of painting at an estimated cost of 2 million colones ($4,000 dollars).  The director of the school is Elios Cardenaz Caravaca and the address is frente a la plaza de deportes de Nosara (located in front of the sports plaza in downtown Nosara).
